ESS0238 Thyme Essential Oil Thyme Essential Oil, Botanical Name Thymus Vulgaris, extracted from Thyme's leaves by steam distillation. Thyme Essential Oil is a digestive stimulant, useful for people with a sluggish digestive system, or in convalescence when the whole body is less efficient than usual. It is an intestinal antiseptic, valuable in gastric infections. Another traditional use of Thyme has been in treating colds, coughs and sore throats. Thyme Essential Oil is an excellent pulmonary disinfectant, useful for all respiratory infections, as well as being very effective against mouth and throat infections, or as a mouthwash in effective against bacteria which cause mouth and gum infections.

Most important actions of Thyme in all forms of infection, that it stimulates the production of white corpuscles, so strengthening the body's resistance to invading organisms.'It stimulates the circulation generally, and raises low blood pressure. It is particularly good for people who are fatigued, depressed or lethargic, making it very useful in convalescence, and it stimulates the appetite which is so often poor after an illness. It helps to revive and strengthen both body and mind and it is reputed to stimulate the brain and improve memory. Thyme Essential Oil has balancing effect, used it in baths to help insomnia, it will enliven when you need to be wakeful, but help you sleep when you need to. It is sometimes used for aromatic waters for the skin and in compresses for sores and wounds, used it in hot compresses to relieve rheumatic pain. It has been used in soapy solutions for disinfecting the hands, being a much stronger antiseptic than many of those commonly used in hospitals.

There are several varieties of Thyme Essential Oil, but the common Thyme Essential Oil is the one most used in aromatherapy. The oil is distilled twice, to remove irritant substances present in the plant. The active constituents of a typical Thyme oil include thymol and carvacrol, together making up about 60% of the volume, with terpinene, cymene, borneol and linalol, but Thyme show more chemical variation than almost any other plant. Carvacrol and thymol are frequently isolated and used in pharamacy.

Treatment :
Fortifies the lungs when treating colds, coughs and sore throats particularly tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, whooping cough, asthma, and helps to eliminate phlegm. Basically stimulates action of white corpuscles and helps the body fight disease and deters the spread of germs. Beneficial to the immune system. Its also good for the circulation and raises low blood pressure. May be used for rhematism, gout, arthritis and sciatica since its stimulating effect and diuretic action facilitates the removal of uric acid. When used in a compress can reduce painful arthritic swelling.Thyme intestinal antiseptic and particularly good in gastric infections, expels worms and eases dyspepsia. As a urinary antiseptic, may be helpful with cystitis. Seems to allay menstrual difficulties such as scanty periods and leucorrhoea. May stop nose bleeding.

Effect On Skin :
A tonic for the scalp and may be effective with dandruff and hair loss. Often helpful with wounds and sores as well as dermatitis, boils and carbuncles.

Bergamot Essential Oil, Cedarwood Essential Oil, Tea Tree Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil, Melissa Essential Oil, Mandarin Essential Oil, Niaouli Essential Oil, Lemon Essential Oil, Junipe Essential Oil, Chamomile Essential Oil. The note is top to middle.
