Rosewood Essential Oil, Botanical Name Aniba Rosaeodora, extract from Rosewood's wood by steam distillation. Rosewood Essential Oil is a very safe oil, being non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing in all its actions. It has a tonic effect on the body without being stimulant. At the same time, though, it is as immune system stimulant, so it would be a good oil for anybody with lowered immunity. Rosewood Essential Oil is much preferred to the more medical immunostimulants like tea tree, used for chronic fatigue and as a possible choice for people with glandular fever. It is mildly analgesic and effective in cleaning headaches, especially if these are allied to slight nausea. The effect on headaches is allied to a cephalic property, for Rosewood certainly clears the head.
Rosewood Essential Oil is a good deodorant and has a range of useful properties in the area of skin care, being antiseptic and bactericidal makes it useful in treating acne, and its gentle, non-irritant nature means that it can be used on even the most sensitive skins. It is a cellular regenerator, which makes it valuable for older skin and it may even help to diminish wrinkles, or includes it in anti-stretch-mark creams. The oil is extracted by steam distillation from wood chippings and contains 80% to 90% of linalol, with small amounts of terpineol, nerol, geraniol and traces of various other substances. It is colourless or very pale yellow, with a rich and subtle odour that is both floral and woody, with slightly spicy tones.
