Ravensara Essential Oil, Botanical Name Ravensara Aromatica, extract from leaves by steam distillation. Ravensara Essential Oil is a multi-action oil, to the extent that it could be compared with Lavender Essential Oil and it is often more effective in blends than when used alone. It is a completely safe oil and can be used for for anybody. It is above all, antiviral and immunostimulant. It's particularly effective against 'flu like virus infections, especially if used at the first sign of shivering. A few drops in the bath immediately before going to bed will often avert an attack of 'flu, sed it intensively in massage, baths and inhalations can often stop 'flu in one day. It is a muscles relaxant and analgesic, good for joint pains and muscular tension, especially when this is linked to anxiety. It is both mentally and physically stimulating, and could be help people who are overtired, or depressed and lethargic.

Ravensara Essential Oil used by medically trained aromatherapists to treat viral hepatitis and viral enteritis. The high antiviral activity of Ravensara Essential Oil is active against some bacteria, used it during a particularly virulent 'flu epidemic and remained well throughout. It is good for all respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis and catarrh, as in bronchitis, and whooping cough, the face that Racensara is a good expectorant is useful. It is even more so if used in blends with other suitable oils such as Myrtle Essential Oil, Pine Essential Oil, Thyme Essential Oil, etc. The strong antiviral action make it a good oil for cold sores, shingles and genital herpes. For genital herpes it is best in a blend with Helichrysum Essential Oil in a base of St. John's Wort oil and for shingles in a blend with Lavender Essential Oil and Camomile Essential Oil to help the pain.

Ravensara is a tall forest tree native to Madagascar. All parts of the tree are strongly aromatic and the local people have used the bark, leaves and fruit as flavorings and medicines since time immemorial. The oil is extracted from the leaves by a very long, slow steam distillation and it contains principally cineol, between 60% to 75%, with pinene, terpineol, linalol and eugenol. The Essential oil is almost colourless with an aroma as a more delicate version of Rosemary Essential Oil.
