Lemon Essential oil botanical name Citrus Limonum, extract from Lemon's crude peel by cold pressed. Lemon oil in less serious conditions though, such as bronchitis, "flu" and gastric infections. The ability to stimulate the body's own defense, in the action of the white corpuscles is also a very good reason for using Lemon for all kinds of cuts and wounds, it is also haemostatic, help to shop bleeding. It is a powerful bactericide, which is yet another excellent reason for using it in treating cuts. Some research which has shown that the essential oil will kill diphtheria bacilli in 20 minutes, and even when diluted to 0.2% it will make tuberculosis bacilli completely inactive. Lemon oil mixes into an air spray, or vaporised in a burner or diffuser gives some protection against the spread of infection at the same time as delicately scenting the home.

Lemon's ability is to counteract acidity in the body, this useful applications applies where the body is unbalanced in the direction of excessive acidity. That first springs to mind being gastric acidity, leading to pain and ulcers. Lemon is a good general tonic to the digestive system. Other situations in which too much acidity in the body gives rise to painful symptoms, include rheumatism, gout and arthritis, when the body does not get rid of itself effectively of uric acid, and this forms crystals which cause pain and inflammation of the joins.

Lemon has a tonic effect on the circulatory system, and is especially appropriate in treating varicose veins. It is helpful in cases of high blood pressure and can be used in preventative regimes against arteriosclerosis. Lemon use in skincare, is mild bleach and is useful in brightening dull and discoloured skin, especially on the neck, and it might have some effect on freckles, if applied every day over a period of time. It is astringent and will therefore helpful for cuts, it also can be used for its cleansing effect for hair and skin.

This oil is cold pressed from peel of the lemons, it takes as many as 3,000 of them to produce a kilo of essential oil. The oil is a pale green-yellow in colour and has the unmistakable smell of fresh lemons. The note is Top.
