Botanical Properties
Clove oil is extracted from the dried, brown cloves familiar to cooks which are in fact, originally native to Indonesia, now grown in Madagascar, and West India. Clove oil can be extracted from the buds, leaves and stalks, but that from the bud is only one which should be used in aromatherapy as the others are powerful skin irritants, this is due to the high levels of eugenol.
