Celery Seed Essential Oil
Botanical name Apium Graveolens, extract from Celery's seeds by steam distillation. Grown specifically for essential oil extraction in India, China and Hungary. Celery Essential oil can be obtained from all parts of the Celery plant but the most useful and the only one generally used in aromatherapy is produced by steam distillation from the seeds. It has a strong but pleasant, spicy scent and ranges from pale to dark yellow though some sample tend towards orange.
Celery essential oil benefit
Perhaps more important than any of these fairly specific uses, is the fact that Celery stimulates the metabolism and is helpful for fatigue and exhaustion, especially if this is stress-induced. Celery essential oil is an emmenagogue and could be used to help absent, scanty or irregular menstruation.
Used in herbal medicine as a tisane, decoction or tincture for urinary tract infections, kidney problems etc. Massage with Celery oil would benefit anybody with fluid retention but it does much more than just shift fluids, helps the body throw off accumulated toxins, so it is particularly indicated in cellulites and for arthritis, rheumatism and gout where accumulations of uric acid give rise to pain and inflammation.
