Description
RV0007 Vitamin E, D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate

Vitamin E considered the most important oil soluble antioxidant and free radical scavenger. It is also a photoprotectant. It helps protect the cellular membrane from free radical damage. Vitamin E serves as a preservative due to its ability to protect against oxidation. This benefits not only the skin, but also the product in terms of longevity. As a moisturizer, vitamin E is well absorbed through the skin, demonstrating a strong affinity with small blood vessels. It is also considered to improve the skin's water binding ability. In addition, vitamin E emulsions have been found to reduce trans-epidermal water loss, thereby improving the appearance of rough, dry and damaged skin.

This vitamin is also believed to help maintain the connective tissue. There is also evidence that vitamin E is effective in preventing irritation due to sun exposure. Its applied prior to UV irradiation is protective against epidermal cell damage caused by inflammation. This indicates possible anti-inflammatory properties. Lipid per-oxidation in tissues may be one cause of skin aging; however, appears to counteract decreased functioning of the sebaceous glands and reduce excessive skin pigmentation, which is found to increase almost linearly with age. It is available also as a tocopherol polypeptide complex that delivers the vitamin in a water dispersable form. In this way, when incorporated into cosmetic formulations, it does not need other compounds to assist in its solubilization. Useful in anti-aging creams and lotions, and in UV protective products, tocopheral is a naturally occurring vitamin E found in a variety of cereal germ oils including wheat germ oil. It can also be produced synthetically.

Water-insoluble vitamin E formed by esterification of acetic acid & tocopherol. Purity >98%. pH 6-8. Activity: 1000 IU per 1 g solution (about 1 ml). Clear viscous liquid, faint odor. Soluble in alcohol & oil, water insoluble. Provides antioxidant activity only on the skin, tissue esterases need first to cleave off acetate to form active vitamin E. Potent antioxidant, its protects from damages by reactive oxygen radicals & UV rays, increases SPF, moisturizing & antiaging effect, improves skin surface relief, soothing & anti-inflammatory properties, promotes epithelisation & enzyme activity (faster wound healing).
