Propylene Glycol is the most common moisture carrying vehicle used in cosmetic formulations. It has better skin permeation and also gives a pleasant feel with less greasiness. It is used as a humectant since it absorbs water from the air, effective as a wetting agent preventing water loss in products and in the skin, increases skin permenbility of active ingredients as it penetrates into the other most skin layers, emollient & lubricant properties, excellent solubilizer of other ingredients, increases spreading of creams.

How To Used :

Added as is to the water phase of the formulas, typical use level under 3% in emulsions. But there is a concern that Propylene glycol is an irritant at high concentrations, though it appears to be quite safe at usage levels under 3%. Application various skin care products, hair care products, color cosmetics, soap, month washes or tooth paste.
